Spider man is a fictional character created by Marvel comics. The Spiderman comic story line was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The Spiderman comic series is about a young boy named Peter Parker who is a socially awkward teenage high school student. He gets bitten by a radioactive spider and develops his Spider man powers. Spiderman has the ability to cling to walls, shoot spider webs and use his ‘spider sense’ to react quickly to danger.

The Spider man comic series follows Peter Parker, and his alter ego of Spider man, becoming a vigilante against crime in his city. He becomes a resident hero to the people of New York City.

The Spiderman comics also details the friendship and later love interest between Peter Parker and Mary Jane (MJ), which is highlighted in the first Spiderman Movie. MJ is Peter Parkers best friend, who is a long running love interest throughout many of the Spiderman series

In the Spiderman comic series, Spiderman battles many different enemies in each series, including Octopus, The Sandman, The Lizard and The Green Goblin.

The Marvel comics hero first appeared in Amazing Fantasy (August 1962), and since then several Spiderman comic series have been created, which have developed a cult following.

THE FILM

The story begins two years from where the previous film ends, and Peter Parker is finding his double life increasingly difficult. Precariously struggling to balance his crime-fighting duties with the demands of his normal life, Peter often finds his personal life taking a back seat. He loses a job, faces financial difficulties, and struggles to maintain his physics studies at Columbia University. Moreover, he has become estranged from both love interest Mary Jane and best friend Harry Osborn, and Aunt May is threatened with foreclosure. Harry, now head of Oscorp’s research division, has invested in the research of brilliant scientist Otto Octavius, Peter’s idol. To perform a sustained fusion experiment, Octavius has developed a set of artificially intelligent mechanical arms, which are impervious to heat and magnetism. Though the experiment overloads and becomes unstable, Dr. Octavius refuses to halt it, with devastating results: his wife is killed; the neural inhibitor chip which enabled him to control the arms is destroyed; and the arms are fused to his spine. Unconscious, he is taken to hospital to have the tentacles removed, but the tentacles kill the surgeons, and he escapes. Uncontrolled, the tentacles begin to influence Octavius’ mind, playing on his vanity and ego, and he decides he must complete his experiment at any cost. J. Jonah Jameson names him Doctor Octopus or “Doc Ock.

Doc Ock attempts to rob a bank where Peter Parker and his Aunt May happen to be present. After a short glitch in his powers, Spider-Man manages to take back most of the stolen money, but Doc Ock takes Aunt May as a hostage. When Spider-Man rescues her, she revises her former opinion of him and realizes that he is a hero. Peter Parker gives up being Spider-Man. During a party, Peter learns that M.J. is planning to marry John Jameson, and Harry lashes out at him in a drunken rage due to his loyalty to Spider-Man; shortly afterwards he loses his powers while web-slinging across town. Meanwhile, Doc Ock rebuilds his experimental reactor. Peter questions if he could ever have what he “needs”, a life as Peter Parker, which involves a vision of Uncle Ben, and resolves to give up being Spider-Man. Back home, after visiting Uncle Ben’s grave, Aunt May is distressed by Peter’s confession that he was somewhat responsible for his Uncle Ben’s death. Aunt May and Peter reconcile, and she tells Peter of the hope that Spider-Man brings to others, in spite of what dreams he may have to sacrifice. Peter attempts to re-connect with Mary Jane, but she informs him it is too late. In the meantime, Doc Ock has completed rebuilding his reactor, and needs one final item: the tritium which fuels the reactor. He goes to Harry Osborn for it, dangling him over the edge of the Osborn mansion balcony when he refuses. Harry agrees to give Ock what he needs in exchange for capturing Spider-Man. Mary Jane meets Peter in a coffee shop to ask if he still loves her, but Peter tells her that he does not. Amidst this exchange, the two are ambushed by Doctor Octopus, who abducts Mary Jane in a ploy to lure Spider-Man into a trap.

The much anticipated third installment of the Spider-Man movie franchise hit theaters in 2007. The movie picks up after the second movie, except this time the people of New York love Spider-Man. Peter’s life seems to be much more stable then the last movie. Peter is doing everything right, he does all his homework and he isn’t late to Mary Jane’s show anymore. Peter catches Harry after the show and tries to explain things, but Harry still holds a grudge against Peter. Peter and Mary Jane spend the night together when unknown to the couple, a meteorite carrying the symbiote drops in the park and follows Peter back. Meanwhile, Harry pumped himself with the Goblin Formula. Peter later visits Aunt May and tells her that he is going to propose to Mary Jane. Aunt May then tells Peter a story about when Uncle Ben proposed to her, she then gives Peter the ring that Uncle Ben used to propose to Aunt May. On his ride home, Harry surprise attacks Peter and they get into an aerial combat, nearly losing the engagement ring. Peter lures Harry into an alley and trips Harry off his Goblin Glider. Peter takes Harry to the hospital where it is revealed that Harry has lost his short term memory, therefore he does not remember Peter is Spider-Man and how his father died. Meanwhile, Flint Marko fell into an activated machine, which turned him into Sandman. The next morning, Mary Jane goes over to Peter’s apartment to vent out her frustration in her career, but Peter keeps on talking and then has to go out as Spider-Man. Mary Jane let him but she shows a clear frustration in their relationship. A crane at a construction site began to malfunction, it crashed into a building where Gwen Stacy was modeling. She falls out of the building and Spider-Man was able to catch her and take her down safely. Peter then takes some photos that he got to the Bugle, however he was beat to it by Eddie Brock. Later Peter takes Harry home, still wary about his memory, Peter is mostly relieved that Harry does not remember anything. Later that day, there was a celebration rally held for Spider-Man. He attends it and even kisses Gwen the same way he kissed Mary Jane, and she was there to see it. However, the celebration gets interrupted by Sandman drifting across. Spider-Man decides to follow it and tries to stop him robbing bank money from an armored car. Spider-Man was unsuccessful at capturing him. Later that night Peter was planning to propose to Mary Jane, however, she gets more frustrated that he doesn’t understand what is going on in her life and storm out of the restaurant. The next day, Peter and Aunt May were called to the police station where it is revealed that Flint Marko was the real killed of Uncle Ben. Peter becomes obsessed with finding Flint Marko, and Mary Jane came to try and help but he pushed her away. Peter continues to wait and he eventually falls asleep from exhaustion. While asleep, the Symbiote has been waiting in Peter’s room, it decided to bond with Peter when he was asleep. Peter wakes up in the black suit hanging upside-down in the city. He realizes it made him stronger and the strength felt good, so he decides to keep it.

The game involves climbing a sky scraper, rescuing hostages and defusing bombs set by the Green Goblin. The 1990′s saw a flood of Spider-Man Video Games. The first game of the decade released was The Amazing Spider-Man, a puzzle action game released Amiga, PC:DOS, Commodore 64, and Atari ST. Another game, also titled “The Amazing Spider-Man” was released in 1990 for the Gameboy. The Gameboy titles spawned two sequels, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers In 1991 Sega released the first Spider-Man arcade game titled “Spider-Man: The Video Game”. Sega also released The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin the same year. The Nintendo Home consoles were late to the Spider-Man party, but they saw many Spider-Man titles themselves. The first was Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six, released in 1992. Which is considered one of the worst Spider-Man games of all time. Not all Spider-Man titles followed original story lines. In 1994 Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage was a released for the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. The game closely followed the Maximum Carnage Story Arch that was present in all of the Spider-Man titles. 1995 gave us Spider-Man and Venom: Separation Anxiety, which was released on The Sega Genesis, The Super Nintendo and the PC. That same year, Spider-Man: The Animated Series was released for The Genesis and the Super Nintendo; it followed the storyline of the series, with most of the characters being represented the way they were in the cartoon. The next Spider-Man game, Spider-Man:Web of Fire, was released for the Sega 32X. This game is one of the most rare and valuable Spider-Man games to date. For the next couple of years, no game completely dedicated to Spider-Man was released. He did however star in Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems and the Marvel vs Capcom series. Not until 2000 would Spider-Man return in his own game.

After saving a friend of Aunt May from muggers, Spider-Man found out that his friend, Jean DeWolff was murdered in her sleep. He later found out from the detective who was investigating the case that the killer is someone calling himself the Sin-Eater. Attorney Matt Murdock is later legally defending the same muggers that attacked Aunt May’s friend and they were relased on bail. Peter was at the hearing disgusted on the verdict and Matt was visibly guilty of his own actions. He was confronted by the preciding judge, who is also his mentor and told him that he was weak. Then the Sin-Eater goes on to kill the judge and Matt couldn’t do anything to defend him without revealing his superhero identity as Daredevil. Peter was also investigating and he find out that Jean was in love with him as Spider-Man, which makes her death even more painful for him. Matt was at Jean’s funeral and could hear the Sin-Eater’s heartbeat but dared not to speak out if it weren’t for his secret identity. When the priest who oversaw the funeral of DeWolff was hearing a confession, he was killed by the person who was confessing to him, revealed to be the Sin-Eater. Spider-Man and Daredevil later team-up to track down the Sin-Eater, who is now out to kill J. Jonah Jameson. The heroes find out that the identity of the Sin-Eater is the same detective that was investigating the murder of Jean DeWolff, Stanley Carter. The Sin-Eater entered JJJ’s house to kill him but only found Betty Brant, who was watching over the house. Spider-Man managed to save Betty before she was shot. Spider-Man was so mad at the Sin-Eater that he beat him within an inch of his life and he could have killed him until Daredevil pin him into submission. Sin-Eater was arrested and sent into jail, but he was followed by an angry mob, including Jean’s father, who was ready and willing to punish him. Daredevil tried to save Sin-Eater but he was overwhelmed by the people with Spider-Man turning his back and is about to leave. It wan’t until Daredevil cried out Spider-Man’s real name that he almost instinctively swung by and managed to save both Daredevil and Sin-Eater. In the rooftop, both Spider-Man and Daredevil both revealed each other’s secret identities to each other and Matt even offered his legal services to Peter if he needed. This solidified the friendship between the superheroes.

Spider-Man was conceived as an ordinary person given great power, and the comics detail his civilian life, friends, family and romances as much as his super-heroic adventures. Peter was raised by his loving aunt, May Parker, and his uncle and father figure, Ben Parker (usually referred to simply as Aunt May and Uncle Ben), after his parents died. Uncle Ben is tragically murdered by a burglar that Peter had allowed to escape before. Peter believes that his uncle’s death was morally his fault, and he decides to use his powers responsibly and become a super-hero. After the murder of her husband, Aunt May is virtually Peter’s only family, and she and Peter are close.

Peter’s first love interest is his college girlfriend Gwen Stacy, who is later tragically killed by the Green Goblin. It is later revealed in the comics that she refused to give custody of her children to their biological father Norman Osborn, (the Goblin’s true identity), who she had an intimate relationship with behind Peter’s back. Originally merely Gwen Stacy’s competition, Mary Jane Watson (or, ‘MJ’) eventually became Peter’s best friend and then his wife. Her marriage to Peter was later erased due to a deal made with Mephisto to save Aunt May’s life. Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat, is a reformed cat burglar who was Spider-Man’s girlfriend and partner at one point, but rejected him when he revealed his identity to her, as she was only interested in his costumed persona. She eventually learned to love Peter on his own merit, but never on the level at which she loved Spider-Man.

Flash Thompson was originally Peter Parker’s high school tormentor, and later one of his closest friends. Due to brain damage, he suffered amnesia and regressed to his bullying personality, though he eventually recovered from this. Harry Osborn, son of Norman Osborn, was Peter’s best friend in college, who eventually follows his father’s footsteps and becomes the second Green Goblin, ultimately resulting in Harry’s death. He was resurrected due to the erasure of Peter’s marriage to Mary Jane, and all related events, from history.

J. Jonah Jameson, the irascible publisher of the Daily Bugle newspaper, is Peter’s first employer. While he employs Peter Parker as a photographer, he is also Spider-Man’s greatest critic and largely responsible for public distrust of the hero. Joseph “Robbie” Robertson was the Editor-in-chief at the Daily Bugle, a moderating influence on Jameson, and a father figure to Peter after Uncle Ben’s death. Betty Brant was the secretary at the Daily Bugle, and was once in love with Peter.

More internet information for you….
While moving an old trunk into the basement of his Aunt’s home, the teenage Peter Parker discovered some old newspaper clippings, which claimed that his parents were traitors who had been plotting against the government. The teenager was wracked with confusion. He forced Aunt May to reveal what had really happened to his parents, and she told him that they had died in a plane crash in Algeria under mysterious circumstances. Desperate to learn the truth about his parents, Peter changed into Spider-Man and went to Algeria to find out what happened.

Arriving in Algeria, Spider-Man searched the Casbah, hunting for the contact his aunt had told him about. His search attracted the attention of the man he sought, who sent out a group of thugs to stop him. Fighting them off, Spider-Man discovered the whereabouts of his enemy. Tracking down the hideout, the arachnoid was shocked to discover that his adversary was none other than Captain America’s greatest enemy, the Nazi terrorist known as the Red Skull. The battle with the Red Skull resulted in the destruction of the fascist’s headquarters, but Spider-Man was able to save the files relating to his parents. As a result of this, he found the proof he needed to clear their names. He discovered that they had been working as double agents for the United States government and had not been traitors after all.

Later, Richard and Mary Parker had seemingly returned from the dead. According to the Parkers, Russian agents had kidnapped them many years ago, taking them prisoner before they could board the plane. After spending weeks getting reacquainted with his parents, Peter Parker revealed his identity to them.

While Spider-Man was strong physically, he had never exactly been the strongest costumed hero on the block. Iron Man, the Mighty Thor, the Incredible Hulk, and even the ever-loving blue-eyed Thing were all much stronger. It can even be argued that super-villains such as Doctor Octopus, the Sandman, and the Scorpion possessed far greater raw power. However, that all changed when a laboratory accident exposed Peter Parker to an unknown energy source. He was transformed into the cosmic Spider-Man. While pursuing his graduate studies at Empire University, Peter Parker was bathed in the unknown energies when an experimental generator exploded. The explosion also caused nearby power lines to overload dangerously. Changing into Spider-Man, Peter spotted a live wire falling toward a young couple. He instinctively caught the wire and was surprised when he wasn’t harmed by the massive surge of electricity. Spider-Man discovered that he had some amazing new powers. Using his webbing, he could instantly form any complex shape that he imagined, and then manipulate the webbing in whatever way he wanted.

After Gwen’s death, Peter became anti-social, but found find Mary Jane constantly supporting him through this traumatic incident. At first, Peter pushed Mary Jane away but she kept coming back to support him. Eventually Peter fell in love with Mary Jane and the two began dating. As a direct result of Gwen Stacy dying, Professor Miles Warren became the Jackal, and he hired the Punisher to take out Spider-Man in the Punisher’s first ever appearance, but the Punisher found out that the Jackal had killed one of his best friends, so stopped pursuing Peter.

Later Peter encountered a clone of himself and a clone of Gwen Stacy. Miles Warren, a protégé of Herbert Edgar Wyndham better known as the High Evolutionary, who called himself the Jackal, was the man who created the clones. He made them because he blamed Spider-Man for killing Gwen. Eventually the clone Spider-Man was apparently killed, and the real Spider-Man took his clone to a factory smokestack and threw the lifeless body into it. The Gwen Stacy clone left Peter afterwards, since she knew she was just a clone created for one purpose.

Mary Jane and Peter broke up after Peter made a marriage proposal to Mary Jane. Mary Jane told him that she was not ready for a serious commitment. Mary Jane left New York for some time going off to pursue her acting career.
